Dr Jolene John
Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr Jolene John is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in CAMHS in East London. She has over 12 years’ experience working in child and adolescent psychiatry and leads a NHS Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Treatment service in CAMHS. She has expertise in assessing young people with their families and developing multi-disciplinary treatment recommendations for a wide range of conditions including neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Dr John won first prize for best research presentation at the State of the Art Congress, Psychological Medicine: Bio-Social Advances in Psychiatric Research organised by Queen Mary University in 2019. This was based on her literature review during specialist training looking at the disparity of Autism diagnosis in children and adolescents in the Black and ethnic minority communities. She is interested in promoting awareness of Autism in health professionals to ensure early diagnosis, especially in groups where this is under-recognised.
